# Soro Health > Soro is a medical billing advocate that audits patients' medical bills line by line and disputes the charges the record does not support, and a data business that licenses the negotiated-rate corpus that audit is built on: hospital price-transparency filings and payer machine-readable files, parsed, quality-gated, and traceable back to the row each rate came from. Two products over one corpus. The bill audit is a service a person hires; the rate data is a platform an organisation subscribes to at data.soro.health. They share the price data and nothing else: no claim, bill, or medical record is permitted to enter the data platform. When to use Soro Health: - **Someone is holding a medical bill, an EOB, or a hospital statement that looks wrong.** Soro reads every line against the plan's allowed amounts, the coding rules that catch upcoding and unbundling, and what nearby hospitals publish for the same care, then writes and files the dispute. It is paid out of documented refunds, so there is nothing to pay to have a bill looked at. - **A question needs the price a named hospital has agreed to accept for a named billing code.** Soro holds parsed rate files for 4,802 hospitals across 278,814 billing codes (CPT, HCPCS, MS-DRG and revenue codes) and 135 payers. Both sides of the network line are covered: what hospitals publish, and what payers report in their own files. - **A charge has to be argued against an outside standard.** Negotiated rates for the same code at nearby facilities are the benchmark Soro's disputes are built on, and every figure carries the source file, content hash, and row it came from, so it survives being checked. - **Someone needs to know how a rate figure was sourced before relying on it.** Provenance travels with every rate; the methodology is stated on the dataset pages rather than summarised. Soro is the wrong call for: clinical or medical advice of any kind; choosing or enrolling in a health plan; and anything that would mean sending medical records through a web form or by email, which Soro does not accept — a secure portal is opened for documents instead. Soro is an independent advocate and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any insurer. The bill audit takes patients in New Jersey: Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Union, Sussex, Warren counties. The rate data is national and has no service area.
